[bleep] one eye open one eye dry
sweet blue hum of her breath against my face falling
across closed eyelids and secret toothy grins feel her
smiling wrapping fingers in my hair and the two of us
suspended in the deep breath of free fall a hiccup
before being stripped bare of memory and circumstance
thrust forward into an emptiness solid and harnessed
in the collected trinkets and sentimental reminders of
old photos of strangers on benches beneath skies
spitting rain blowing sideways into cheeks flushed
with redemption and consumed by comparisons to grainy
water color motion pictures with cheap dialogue when
she whispers and whimpers and pretends to sing we are
giggles and blooshot unending procession of coffee and
jazz and runny nose space heater comforters burying
her face in my chest and promising never to sit still
or rest in slow motion widescreen green tinted lenses
frozen in space her soft hands on my face tickling
teases and mechanical grace swallowing wandering manic
disorders of critically revolving movement recorders
and beneath our security blanket display in flashing
red digital characters speaking in jaundice faced
cathode ray urgency bleeping nothing will generate
warmth so sincere as this chemically dependent absence
of fear spinning in circles in passenger seats of blue
late decade automobiles remembering mornings that i
spent with you since grown old and lumbering sogginess
pink in my eyes from staring so long perched upon a
perpetually diminishing horizon flashes of thought
stunning like white noise on loudspeakers huddling on
floors of hotel room carpeting numbness weighing like
lead on desensitized eyes of painted stormcloud
gathering steam roaring in over the bay into the
waiting delusion of love
.brother are you real at all paradise ambassador i
will throw you rocks today watch them pass right
through you say this is not a game or test we both
have done some grieving your vast reward a treasury
you cant afford one eye open one eye dry when i die
will you be my neighbor tell me things i like to know
dress it from head to toe the message i've recieved is
gone can you read my soul backwards i would lie with
you if you are a backwards ghost i will hire you.
